Re: [DMCForum] Re: rough "billy" idle :-)

Mike,

I don't think that your idol problem is caused by your idol's alternator.
As the RPMs drop too low when seeking, the alternator won't be spinning
fast
enough which would cause the output to fluctuate.

>From what I saw, you have two separate idol problems. Well make that
three,
but the apparent worship of ones car isn't necessarily a problem unless
your
primary idol-wife/goddess gets too jealous of the "other woman". First is
that your idol microswitch isn't activating every time you let off the
throttle. Since David T adjusted it properly once recently and you since
had a garage replace the water pump then it is reasonable to assume that
the
garage didn't get the throttle spool bracket in exactly the right place.
Loosen the 3 screws holding it (two on the passenger side and one on top)
and then retighten them as you pull the bracket rearward and toward the
passenger side. I'm not sure how this magic works, but it does wonders
for
activating the micro-switch properly.

Your second idol problem is when the circuit is activated. Then the
seeking
fluctuates so much that it can stall the car. Demitry's DeLorean was
doing
this, so we swapped idle speed ECU's with another car, and the problem
followed the ECU. But this car was doing it much worse than yours. The
thing to do is try a different ECU and see what happens. Meanwhile try
readjusting the throttle spool bracket.

> my car has an old "Valeo"...I think this was the common replacement

I thought your alternator was a Motorola? Or at least it LOOKED like a
Motorola.
