 
Personally I use the green scotchbright pads to buff the SS. 
I wash the car, then use the pad rubbing with the grain of the SS. I do
each panel, then hose off to get rid of excess dust. 
I'm still perfecting my method, and have not found any good chemical to
use to date, but this has worked well so far for me.
