It would depend on how hot the torsion bar actually got.  How much soot
got
on it isn't a good indication.  Perhaps what would be is how well the soot
stuck/stained.  They aren't like plug wires where if in question you just
replace them anyway; though, I have heard of people doing that.  For the
value involved and price vs. risk, I would install them on a car and see
how
they go.  The worst that could happen is that the spring would give and
maybe break before you closed the door the first time.
