> What is a proximity switch? It is like a miniature metal detector only a lot more high-tech. In the case of what we fitted to the DeLorean, they fit neatly in place of those troublesome mechanical switches and work the same way only with no moving parts. When the door gets close enough to them, they shut off. When the door opens, the lights turn on. If it wasn't for Dave Sontos coming up with this, I was ready to mount mercury tilt switches in the doors. If you haven't already, check out Dave Sontos' site showing all the parts: http://personal.picusnet.com/dsontos/page1.html Sure, the upgrade isn't stock, but if you are the kind of guy who doesn't mind upgrading your car as new technology becomes available, then this is a definite must have. They do draw a little bit of current while the car isn't being used, but it is much less than the preset memory of any radio. BTW, I like your user name. :-) Walt ------------------------ Yahoo!
