Bill
It all depends on whats in the engine. The cam in my BB is designed to run
2200-6000 RPM, having everything balanced gives a red line around 8k. The
highest I ever saw was 7200 when the prop started to slip, 1:1 transmission.

Incorrect. Many engines never rev anywhere near 5,252 RPM.
My low compression 460's produce maximum torque around 2,500 RPM,
maximum HP somewhere between 3,500-4,000 RPM. By the time they get to
5,252 RPM I'm in a diminishing power situation.
