Hi Chris,
sorry to hear that you are standing down, I can think of no one else who has looked after a car club so well.
Just a note to thank you for all your hard work over the years, it has really paid off, and if it wasn`t for you allowing me to sit in Dusty at the NEC my De Lorean "Smokey" would have remained a dream, Thank You!!.
Hope all goes well with the house and hope to see ya again in the future!.
to a top guy.... Chrispy

Dear all,
I have decided to retire as club secretary.
Why have I chosen to announce it on our newsgroup? Well the person
that takes over, needs to be enthusiastic and keen, that were such
members are.
There are several reasons I have come to this decision. Firstly, I may
as well go out on a "High" The last few months for been particularly
successful/ enjoyable for me and the club.. To have such a good time at
our Lotus meeting, following on from taking my D to Buckingham
Palace.well I don't really think I can top that.
Secondly, I will have more time to devote to building our new house or
"Parnham Palace" as it has been nicknamed by some who have seen the
foundations!
On a practical level, when we move in, it will involve notifying dozens
of magazines etc of the new address of the "Secretary of the UK DOC".
This may as well be the new person.
We can decide, finally who my replacement will be at our next AGM,
probably at the next NEC.
What is involved in being the secretary?
Your name address, telephone number readily availably in all classic car
magazines, websites etc etc for ANYBODY to see. You must be contactable
at any hour of the day or night. (I have never had any sort of trouble
regarding this, apart from a couple of late phone calls, in all my time
as secretary).
It takes a good few hours a week. You need to be organised.
It helps if you are not counting every penny, as unexpected bills often
pop up and need addressing, before I can get Dave to reimburse me.
You have to have a thick skin and don't easily take offence. You need to
be sympathetic to our very young members, who only have BTTF in mind.
I could go on all day.
Lets open up the discussion and see where it leads us.
Regards
Chris P DOC 2.
