Re: [doc] Painted Deloreans from the Factory!!!!!

Hi

The red car you mention used to belong to me,Noel had it painted red himself,it was not done at the factory.

Once Noel had his done two more were also painted at the same shop in Dundonald by Ernie Hewitt,a green one,and a cream one!

All three retained the original colour fascias,(Well I did repaint mine red)!

Whats more interesting is that all three cars were "Culloden" cars, these can be seen briefly unpainted in the "Car Crash" documentary.

I had various letters, photos etc,and conversations with Noel, and Ernie himself.

By the way that car is no longer red, sadly the new owner has opted to return it to its original stainless, last I heard it was 2/3rds done.

  Hi everyone,

I was out on Saturday to the shops in #2493 and was approached by a guy who
used to work in the factory.

After a bit of general chat he got to talking about painted cars and was
very adamant that there WERE painted cars that lefty the factory and that he
worked in the paint shop. He reckons that about 27 left painted one of
which was a red one owned by Noel Orr.

According to an article I have, the red car was painted in Dundonald (posted
the article in the photos section).

He also has a couple of new stock radios and Delorean lettering from the
factory that was in the offices. But before anyone may ask, he is not
interested in selling them.

Anyway, just thought it was an interesting conversation to have when round
at the shop but Im not going to go out hunting for a factory painted car ?
Im happy with stainless. Have a nice week everyone.

Ps:

Ive posted on the DML but in case anyone does not follow it:

Hi everyone,

I have noticed a squealing noise from the engine bay during driving. At
first I thought it was the belts slipping when water had got on them from
rain but yesterday I noticed it happened the odd time when I would have
thought the belts were dry.

My belt to the alternator is slightly looser than I would think it should be
(does anyone know how tight it should be ie- approx amount of movement if
you push it from top to bottom) so I had initially blamed that.

Does anyone else have an idea what it sound like as Im hoping its not the
water pump.

Cheers

Paul.
