Alright, I'll take another look at it tomorrow. Doesnt sound like its too healthy for the car to be honest. I'll make sure everything is nice and tight and rotate the spring too. I might buy a new set of insulator pads too after I sort out the thudding noise.

If you know which side it's coming from, re-compress the spring and 
rotate it 180 degrees on its axis. The "tight" bit at the top can get 
caught on the lip of the tower and give a "boing" every time you hit a 
bump. Or just put up with it, it's harmless
