RE: [doc] Fuel smell

Did you get any replies to this?  I had similar, and found on inspection 
that the top lip if the tank was not quite sealed.  Lift out the spare wheel 
and remove the hatch (umpteen screws) to the top of the tank.  There's a 
rubber boot that holds the top of teh fuel pump aloft over the tank.  The 
boot is clamped around the outer lip of the tank opening by a large jubilee 
clip, and in my case, the boot had obviously popped out of the jubilee just 
as it was being tightened, leaving an inch-or-so section for vapour to 
escape.

I repositioned the clip, and no more smell.

Hope yours is as simple to solve!
