RE: [doc] Re: Chatter.....Local pubs in Hertfordshire

If you ventured down a little further down the A10 into Ware, you have the
John Gilpin Pub. I can't quite remember the day it happens, I think its the
2nd Wednesday of every month, they have a mini car show. Everything from
Mustangs to Lambo's turning up. They normally have a bigger event around
July 4th too.

In Bishop Stortford you've got the Harvest Moon, again not bad food and an
ample sized beer garden and car park.

If I could get the Ware Town Council to open it up there is a fantastic town
square with 2 lovely bars set on it. Maybe something I could organise for
the future?

The Green Man in Great Offley near Hitchin is an excellent country pub,
gorgeous food and a big car park.  Its a very popular pub especially in
the evenings.

Or the Red Lion in Digswell Hill near Welwyn between A1(m) junctions  5
and 6 big car park good food.

You have just hit upon my specialist subject!!!  ;oD

For meet up's in the Summer (with cars), I know several nice country
pubs in the Stevenage area with decent carparks and beer gardens where
we can admire our cars from.

Letchworth is not renowned for its pubs, being a former Quaker town
and therefore pretty much 'dry' until the 'Themed Bars in former
Furniture Shops' brigade moved in a few years ago.  However there is a
good pub in Norton apparantly, I think its called the Three Horseshoes.

Rich J would probably be the expert on Stotfold's array of ale houses.
There are some nice pubs in Hitchin, but the only one that I can
think of with a suitable carpark would be the Three Moorhens on the
A602 as you come out of Hitchin towards Stevenage.  Or failing that
the Millstream on the A505 Great Cambridge Road on the way to
Letchworth - but it's a bit expensive in there.

There are also lots of nice pubs in the villages around Stevenage too,
including the White Lion at Walkern, The Bell at Bennington and the
Pig & Whistle (affectionately known as the Piggy) at Aston.  My fave
and 'local' is The Crown at Aston End though.  Great car park, good
selection of draught beers (plus driver friendly drinks) and cracking
food. Perfect!  :o)
