According the the original documentation prepared for shipping the Delorean
by sea-freight the following are the accurate dimensions which would be
useful as regards your width concerns:

The overall width without mirrors is 1850mm or 72.83" (I think this is with
the mirrors folded back, rather than removing then entirely)

The overall width with mirrors is 1990mm or 78.35 inches

In terms of getting in and out, the overall width of the car, from
mirror-tip to the fullest extent of the arc when the opposite door is open
is 2168mm or 88.90"

In other words, you'll need a minimum of 89" if you want to get out,
(assuming you can park your D so accurately that you can have the opposite
wing mirror millimetres from your opposite wall).  In practice, therefore
you'll need a good deal more.

Apparently, as an aside, the height of the car with the doors at their
highest is 1892mm or 74,49 inches.

Too much information, I know.

I have not checked these against a real car; but the width ones seem about
right to me.

  reason I am asking is that I am hoping to aquire a D over the next 18
  months or so but I have to build a garage first and sort a drive out.

  The Gap between my house and the boundary fence is about 7'6" (about
  the width of a single garage door) and runs for about 6 feet before
  it opens out into the back garden where I plan to build the garage .
  I can get a new style RAV past and my 97 Omega estate but its
  obviously a close call.   I know the D is wider than both these but
  are the mirrors (tip to tip) wider than the car and if so what is
  maximun width in total.
