RE: [doc] Speeding!

After reading that site, (which is great by the way) I now have even
less faith in politicians, government bodies, police, councils and the
legal system - which is disheartening to say the least.

As somebody who works for the government, or at least that's what your
email address tells us, that must be quite frustrating, and I'm sure I
am not the only person losing faith in the people running society.

Thanks for the site.

Mike

Well last year I was snapped down in Somerset by one. I then revisited
the site and decided that I had a good case for the speed limit being
unenforcable as some of the signs were facing the wrong direction or
covered by foliage. I went and took plenty of photos, GPS coordinates
etc. ready to form my defence.  At my request the matter went to court.
Then it all went very quiet, I think they messed up.

Anyway I suggest if you ever want any advice on such matters, go the
Fightback Forums at www.pepipoo.com and spend a long time reading.

If you want to fight this then personally I would go back to the scene
now and see if the signing is legal.  Take lots of photos.  If there are
any faults including lights not working if the signs are illuminated, or
obscured by foliage, then inform the local council, and ask them if they
will write to you to confirm the faults they have rectified, this would
look very good if it got to trial.

There are other approaches you could take, including sending a PACE
letter in reply to the NIP you have received. Go read the forum if you
want to know all about it.

Cheers
Richard

Evening all,

after more than 3 years of unblrmished driving I returned home today to
find that I was caught doing 55 mph in a 40 zone by one of those bloody
Truvelo things.

The thing is, I remember seeing the camera in question and it was
literally 2 yards after the start of a very poorly signposted 40 zone
which was immediately following a bend in the road.

I was wondering, therefore, if any of you performance drivers had ever
been involved with, or heard of anyone, being able to prove inadequate
signing at a speed camera location.

Neither myself or my passenger saw the 40 sign which is why I was doing
55 mph when I was caught, because the limit previously had been 60.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Regards,

Mike Sumner - 178
