Re: [doc] FW: Interesting item on eBay UK web site item#2455407086: delorean dmc 12 back to the future? bttf?

Chris,

how are things going with "Frenchy"? I just wanted to ask to make sure youhaven't forgotten to tell me when it's properly up and running so I come down and see it for myself.

Also, it looks like I'll be off to Meadowhall again on Saturday the 21st ofFebruary so I'll have a look for one of those deLorean models for you, butI can't guarantee they'll have any because on Christmas Eve they had completely sold out.

Anyway, I'll send my subscription to the club within the next few days.

Regards,

Mike Sumner.

Dear list,

Another car for sale on eBay., seems a bit dear to me, my Frency is still
available at 15k.

But the market is always right. Did the other eBay car sell?

I think the quality of the description, photo's etc. is absolutely vital in
getting a "new comer" into the DeLorean fold. Below IS a good description.
( in my opinion).

Item Description:
You are looking at a Delorean dmc 12, this is a 1982 car and as you
can see it is in incredibly good condition having covered 37000 miles in its
life. If you already know about Deloreans you can skip this section, John
Delorean was a golden boy at General Motors, and had made his way up to the
top of the company, he wanted to make a car that would run and last for at
least 25 years, the Delorean motor company was set up by John Delorean to do
this. The Deloreans have a Lotus designed chassis and suspension, with a
fibreglass under body and stainless steel panels. The car was styled by
Giorgio Giugiaro and has the Peugeot, Renault, Volvo PVR6 engine in the
back. This is a 2.8 V6 and a very similar derivative of this engine is used
in the Volvo 760 as well as other Renault, Peugeots, Citroens and Volvos.
Deloreans have Jaguar rear brakes (mounted outboard not inboard like a
Jaguar E type) and Cortina brakes at the front. So as you can imagine after
seeing this information par!
ts are not a problem. I recently serviced my Delorean and I got all the
parts from off the shelf at Halfords. If you are not already a member of the
DOC (Delorean Owners Club) I would recommend to anyone to join but if you
are thinking of buying a Delorean the club is an invaluable source of
knowledge www.deloreans.co.uk
So Back To The Future, I have been asked many questions about the car and
many people remember them as the back to the future car, there were a total
of 9 cars (I believe) used in the 3 films that were made, and although I may
have a slightly biased opinion I really don't think the film would have been
the same if a different car was used.

Deloreans attract attention wherever they go. Some people know exactly what
they are and can't believe they have seen one on the road, many people see
the car and smile, and many people have no idea what they are. This was
never more apparent then on a recent long weekend trip to Belfast (see above
pic)( this is where the cars were made ), we had stopped out side city hall
to take some pictures of our trip, people were stopping there cars and
getting out to have a look! a delorean is like nothing else on the road,
when was the last time you saw one?

There are many advantages Deloreans have over other classics but the main
advantage is rust, these cars do not rust, if like me you have ever owned a
Jag or an MG, or for that matter most other classic cars it is soul
destroying when you start to see rust bubbles round the wheel arches or
around the back screen, if you sell the car or have it fixed it is going to
cost you money. Deloreans do not suffer this fate, if you don't have a
garage you could still have a Delorean leave it out in the rain and it would
not deteriorate over the winter, although I would not advise that. Mine has
always lived in the garage.

This Delorean is a 1982 manual, it has the light grey interior, This is a
very original car it has all its warning stickers it is complete with the
Delorean tool kit and the space saver spare wheel. The stainless exterior is
in excellent shape with no dents, the dash has no cracks in it, I do have a
set of Delorean black carpet mats (not shown in picture) that will come with
the car, also I have a set of front European ride height springs, these are
not fitted as I was unsure whether or not to modify the car due to its
original condition, in my opinion the cars do look better with Euro height
springs, this will now be down to the car's new owner to decide. You could
buy this car run it for 2 or 3 years and then probably sell it for the same
amount or more money you paid for it. I do have the car advertised in other
locasions and I reserve the right to end the auction early. The last 3
deloreans sold on eBay went for £18,000 or more, there have been others
advertised at £25,0!
00 Money is cheap to borrow at the moment why not make the most of it. If
you have any questions please feel free to ask. I would recommend that if
you are a serious bidder you should come and view the car, I am away from
home at the moment so I have left Saturday Sunday and Monday open for
viewing of the car, you are bidding to buy, If you would like photos of any
part of the car please let me know and I will email them to you, I will be
away from home until Friday night however I will be able to answer your
questions via email for you. I need full payment for this car within 7 days
of the close of the auction. No warranty is given or implied. Good luck and
happy bidding!
