No guarentee that this will work but you never know... 
When I first got my D, the rear side marker lights had been painted black. I replaced them with new lenses from DMCH but later I managed to strip off all the paint (several layers) with cellulose paint stripper. I just sat on the garage step (i.e. with good ventilation) and applied it with an old rag, scrubbing the surface. It took a little elbow grease but brought the paint right off without damaging the lenses. Peter Filsell bought them off me and is now using them on his restored D. Might be worth a try on the stainless panels, not sure about the rubber trim though.
