Hi Guys

Martin is quite right on the taxation period. However the DVLA states that
the vehicle has to be manufacturered prior to Jan '73, not registered. A
friend of mine with a VW Beetle registered March '74, took this up with the
DVLA with help from myself and proved to them that his vehicle was
manufactured in Germany in November 72 via the chassis number.

Thus it fell before their cut off date. Not only was he able to change the
taxation class of the vehicle, but also claimed back his previous 18 months
duties paid.
