Re: [doc] So Tyred

The Pirelli tyres do offer superb grip having travelled in a few
DeLoreans with them on all courners.

However unless you do any kind of mileage, my collegue (12 years
general manager at ATS Euromaster) said Pirelli tyres do have a
reputation for rotting in the side walls. This is not a problem if
you are doing a decent mileage and changing them every couple of
years.

My rears (non-Pirelli) rotted out on the side walls and the tread on
the tyre was like new, I think they were probably fairly old anyway
thought but I had to change them.

I now have AVON GENERAL XP2000 tyres on the rear, I am happy with
the grip, they are fairly cheap and they have the white wall writing
which I think looks smart.

In short if you can get Pirelli tyres at a reasonable price then
they are worth it for the grip alone, but if you car does naff all
mileage then go for somthing cheaper that takes more kindly to
sitting around for long periods.

any comments welcome
