Many older one's would be Stainless Steel, most modern ones are painted
steel . The answer is to but some old Stainless ones and re-make/ bend to
fit the D.

What metal are the windscreen wiper arms made out of?

I quite fancy brushing/graining them like my windscreen surround but
I don't want them to rust!
