Title: A really great weekend, cheers Martin. Others should try to make this more regular....

As you well know, I'm very up for a D-Day, as long as my car is up and running by that time:) I will be recieving stainless steel water bottle, throttle cover, and new gas strutts for the doors this Thursday. So I'll very much be on the road by the weekend. Also on Sunday I took white spirit to the body work, and you should see the result, its beautiful. I didn't realise quite how good my body work was. Finished it all off with some stainless steel polish and I had to spend the next half hour admiring my work. Sods law it started to rain just as I was putting it back into thegarage, AHHH!! The weather had really got into my carpets, and when I checked below them on Sunday, the underlay was sopping wet! Still its drying out nice and slowly, and again, should be dandy by the weekend. All in all, I'm hoping for a spot of sunshine this weekend, so I can parade the result through Bath, and drop a few jaws:) I've also started playing around with a few other parts of the car. I removed the pedals from the car, and took offthe rubber tops, then I went on to sand down the surface to the stainless steel benieth. I've kept a perfect downward grain to all three pedals, and the result is beautiful. My ex BMW had drilled stainless steel pedals, but these look great in pure stainless steel. They feel great to use too, with a really nice gliding motion on the gas pedal. After this I started on the top of the engine block. My intention is to bring the whole of the viewableengine, up to a perfect polished shine. After removing the air filter box,I started to lightly polish the tops of the engine block, the results, though half finished at present, are clearly going to be stunning, even if it does take me a weekend of dismanteling the top half of the engine to get toall visible parts. I'd love to remove the ac compressor, in order to cleanthis up on its own, but don't really feel comfortable removing this, so that will have to stay tarnished for the moment. All in all, making good progress after a day of learning at the Diesel centre with Martin, cheers mate. However, I've still got one rather annoying problem, my courtesy light system. I changed the fuse which you gave me Martin, but still no joy. If Davedid remove a wire to disconnect this circuit, I haven't got a bloody clue which one it was. I think I'll need your help on this one Martin, my electrical systems knowledge is non existant at present. Funny thing is the bonnet light works fine. Martin, could you check the electrics schematic, and see if the bonnet light is on the general courtesy circuit? I'm a bit pissed off about this one, as I thought it would be simple:(  Anyway, I'm up for a grand D-Day meeting, but late April sounds better to me, as the weather should be better. Don't want to get muck on my now pristine D:) By the way Martin, I'll should be able to send you my door modual soon. How does this leave the doors when not connected, can they be opened and closed as normal, bar the locking? Or do they have to stay up while you fix the door modual?

Sounds like you should get together with Martin on this one as he already
wants to set up an informal meeting... or "d-day".
I'll try to attend with my DeLorean - though I may not be able to get it
registered in time (at least not before April)
