RE: [doc] Re: PayPal & eBay scams - OT

This isnt necessarily the case at all.

People using _javascript_ enabled email clients such as outlook express, and using well known, well flawed web browsers can easily be faked into links that look like https://www.paypal.com or http://www.paypal.com but in fact go somewhere completely different.

One of the more recent scams, attacking IE and outlook users primarily, involves a rogue program directly editing your HOSTS file (the same file edited by those so called internet accelerator programs), meaning that whnever you go to a sit such as ebay, paypal, cahoot, etc, your browser will point directly to a phishers site rather than the real/legal site.

Be very very careful folks, a lot of people are going to be scammed this year with cons like this, often you dont even have to click anything to get infected.

A genuine Paypal page will always be https meaning secure
(https://www.paypal.com).  The fakes will be just http://www.paypal.com
