My first thought on this is why not invite the Dutch club, make it a proper
european experience.
Also I would suggest that the best way would be to camp on site as you will
almost certainly now find all local hotels full, and where's the fun of
going to an all night race when you have to go off on a major expedition to
the hotel and back.
I don't actually see the benefit of using companies like Bonne Route for
events like this, France is easy enough to organise events by yourself
anyway. For a camping based expedition I reckon the cost would be under
£100 each (2 per car), plus petrol.
Oh and if you're going to do an overnight hotel, you may as well do it in
Calais, French hotels are much cheaper.

I heard there were a few problems with the Portsmouth ferries,
I would be going On the Dover route as its about 3hrs from
Peterborough. We could have a overnight stop in Dover dependent
on Cost/Availability of hotel rooms.
This may make sense with people driving from all over the country.
Last years prices from Continental Car Tours started at £149
