RE: [doc] DeLorean Business

Sorry for the late reply to this, just back from Hols and worked my way
through 145 emails.

We are a non-moderated newsgroup; Decent folk shouldn't need
"moderating".

Everything in "moderation" is fine by me. It should not be "commercial"
newsgroup, but in the interest of speed and money saving on spares, new
products etc., I see no problem with a little plug here and there.

I can't really say any other, as I have a new batch of springs I shall
be taking to the NEC! But it is not a business for me, it's a hobby. If
I or other group members can help someone, and save them a few bob, well
that's fine. It would be helpful if such replies went direct, rather
than back through the newsgroup.

Regarding the car hire, I've no strong views on that, other than most (
well all actually) enquires have concentrated on price and have come to
nought. But to be honest, the thought of having to take my BTTF car out
in the winter, fills me with dread.

As my reply is so late, I've left all the previous email included so you
can see what I'm talking about.

Chris Parnham

Subject: [doc] Delorean Business

Hi all -

This issue is getting a little vexed.  The site is for Delorean owners
and
enthusiasts, yes?  Some more enthusiastic than others.  Some owners are
content to allow their cars to be hired out and some are not.  I have
had
numerous proposals from a 'specialist' car hire company (not self drive
hire) most of which I could not do.  Now, I'd like to think that I could
offer the opportunity to others via this site, I make no money from it,
but
if the moderator thinks not, I'm happy to abide by the rule.

Surely the site can offer the opportunity for members to buy and sell
Delorean's, bits of Delorean and your time driving someone else in a
Delorean - as well as 'what brake pads do I use? query.  DMUK use it to
great effect, so does James RG and others and more power to them, I say.

The alternative is to have discussion threads as per, for example, the
Pistonheads website, so that members can chose the threads to follow and
not
follow.  We are a small club, let's not get overly precious about the
email
content - but let's be careful about labeling our e-mails so that the
uninterested in a topic can delete them.

Hope you are all well and happy and thanks to all for the effort members
take to help me, in particular, with what might seem like irrelevant
queries.

Regards

Colm
