All.
My trip to Thatcham was extremely rewarding but not entirely
uneventful. On the trip down I noticed a marked increase in road
noise from the drivers door. It appeared thatthe door wasn't closed
properly, with a marked 'crack' along the bottom.
I had assumed that since it was *very* early I had somehow not closed
it properly. Having stopped 7 times on the way down to close it again
this proved not to be the case. The journey home (via Telford for
work purposes) I became even more paranoid, having to reclose
~10miles.
With the door presumably firmly shut, all siting flush and the doors
locked it seems that it will open a small amount at random times
after being closed.
I had a quick chat to Martin at the event who mentioned a safety/two-
stage latch (that is my understanding, so if its wrong blame me).
I have previously posted an image of the inside of my door, the latch
mechanism doesn't have a hole for the front control rod as soon in
the parts manual/recent lock setting guide in the mag (ironically
showing my car in the photos LOL). Instead there is a cut out where
the rod 'rests'.
I plan to change the door seals in the near future, and at that time
will seek help for the reset procedure, in the meantime how do I test
for the security of the second latch point?
Aerodynamically I can't decide whether there is more chance of the
door opening at speed or if the airflow would tend to force the door
closed....
