Hmm !  Martin you obviously haven't been in the motor trade that long!!!!

Any qualified automotive engineer would know that software overhaul on an
auto gearbox refers to replacing the clutch plates, brake bands and cleaning
out other items such as valve body, governor, planet wheel & hub. (i.e.
Reconditioned)
