Re: [doc] Test Track Future

Further to what thomas was saying, i think all the track is still there.  I have been working on the site for about 6-8 weeks and have seen no work being carried out on the test track area.  I even had a walk around it about a month ago, so the idea that it is only a figure 8 is absurd.....

I decided to stop in at the factory today as I was on my way past ;) and ended up talking to one of the security guards. He says that most of the track is gone now, and that there is only a 'figure of 8' left. Anybody know anything about this?
The diggers seem to stop before the test track area, but it is in their path if they intend on developing more.

I hate the thought that the test track being destroyed forever, when it's such a significant landmark in the history of the car.

If this was to happen I would definitely buy a share(s) in the thing.

The idea of every DOC=UK member being a shareholder in the Delorean Test track sounds superb! It would really show how strong we are as a club, how proud we are of our cars history and how dedicated we are to preserving a history that many would gladly wipe away.

First things first though, how much would the land cost.

Ideally, you'd want to renew the track and make it available for many more events yearly, to derive an income of sort, that might attract investment.

Using the Delorean signage over the entrance centre and visitor centre, perhaps a small museum of the cars history with cars there, it could almost be a tourist attraction. ??

  I love the idea,

  Anyone eles??

I think that the only way to make its future certain would be if Montupet would begin making some money from it. That would mean that it would have to be used on a regular basis, but then it may degrade quicker.

Would everybody chip in to buy it if it was up for sale? The owner would just be the DOC-UK. Supposedly, the land around the site has been sold so I dont see why the track cannot be.
