[doc] Importing a D into Hong Kong isn't easy!!!

Dear All,

Gosh! I never knew importing a used car into Hong Kong
is that difficult!! This is what the HK transport
department requires owners to have before importing
(See Below)!! And hey, Hong Kong don't accept LHD
DeLoreans!!

Used vehicles
The vehicle must be owned by the applicant and used by
him for a period of at least 6 months in the
country/region where he has normally resided prior to
the application. Applicant must submit the following
supporting documents:

*Copy of Vehicle Registration Document showing that
the applicant is the owner of the vehicle in the
country/region, which he resided for more than six (6)
months.

*Copy of the applicant?s driving licence issued by the
country/region from which the vehicle is imported with
the date of issuance highlighted. Proof of residence
for more than six (6) months in the country/region
from which the vehicle is imported, such as utility
bills, telephone bills, etc.

*Documents showing reasons of bringing the vehicle
into Hong Kong (such as taking up permanent residence
in Hong Kong, employment/study for at least 6 months,
etc.). Any other documents which can support the
application.

I can also apply for the "Classic car permit" which is
easier in the case for DeLorean as it is over 20 years
old... but this permit can only allow the car to run
for 12 days in Hong Kong for classic car events!!! Why
is HK transport department do harsh to the classics??
