Depends what you call "splitting" as to whether that's bad. The hose we use (and used when you did your rad, if we had any at the time) is double-braided, unlike the original stuff. Orignal stuff has (from the inside to out) rubber, braiding, rubber and the walls can be only 3-4mm thick. The stuff we use with the big green stripe on it is really thick and has an outer layer of braiding which is rubberised. This outer rubber coating is just a finish and will crack under enthusiastic hose-clamp tightening. I'm sure it'll be fine if it's got a big green stripe on it. Two engines and two ecus to play with as of today, oh and another dodgy clutch bites the dust... Martin #1458 (still 100% original cooling system except for header tank - because I'm mad #4426 new everything in the cooling system, except heater matrix.
