Guys, just a follow-on from this post:

Taking on board all the advice you gave Craig, I removed the fuel system access panels on my D this weekend as there has always been a slight whiff of petrol from my car too. 
 
I tightened up the jubilee clips on the pipe which brings fuel from the filler into the tank, as these were quite loose, but I'm not convinced that it has solved the problem. My question is, where should the large jubilee clip be situated on the fuel pump boot area? Should it go over the boot cover/cap as in Craig's photo below?

On my car the jubilee is around the top of the pump boot itself and the boot cover/cap has just been pressed over to cover the top of the pump. Is this correct??
