RE: [doc] Re: "new" new cars

If the garage says the car is worth £800 then sell it privately for a
grand, then go back to the garage and demand a better discount for cash
- works for me :D
Name your price, let them um and err a bit, then start waving the pound
notes around. Real money has a wonderfully persuasive power about it...

If you do a lot of mileage then a bigger car is a better option. They're
much more robust, and are a lot cheaper to buy. I was stunned at what
you could get for £1000 locally - immaculate motors with fab interiors!!

Unfortunately they tend to cost more to 'insure'. Those adverts on the
telly make me laugh..."We could save you up to £400". Good grief,
anybody who's paying THAT much over the odds really needs to shop
around, and they're usually *the* most expensive insurers - someone has
to pay for all those adverts!

I remember my last conversation with the AA...

"That comes out at £800 sir, how does that sound?"
"Like daylight robbery, my current premium is £235"
