[doc] Re: 'A' pillar trim removal .. any tips?

Hi,

interesting ... I have a complete new spare A pillar - the plastic
with the vinyl glued on ready (plenty of spare overlap), how does the
plastic moulding actually fit to the car? ie stay in place.
Presumably if mine (Nov 81) has the vinyl covering embedded in the
windscreen adhesive I should be able to cut it at the glue, leaving
what is embedded in the windscreen adhesive still in place and then
fit the new one I have as if it were an early version, glueing the
spare vinyl onto the inside of the new pillar plastic .. if that
makes sense :-). I have a video tape (came with my car) that has
about 30 mins footage of actually building the early cars in the
factory - its training material with no sound track and shows the
black chassis cars and some grey production ones - it clearly shows
the windscreens actually fitted at a very early stage, before any
trim whatsoever is in place (and before much else really) so yes, the
early ones can't have the trim embedded in the windscreen glue.

Just need to get brave and give it a good pull I suppose :-) and be
ready to spend the money getting the windscreen guys out if need be ..
