Well, maybe not now, but at the time R134a seemed to be the only 
widly availible alternative.

At the end of the day it didn't cost an arm and a leg to change and 
it works so I am happy. 
If people are running on R12 and there is a straight swap that is 
cost effective and availible then that is probably the best route to 
go down.

I am no expert on air con, just take it to an aircon mechanic you 
can trust, either way I would definatly go for the UV dye.
