Re: [doc] Invitation and Details for the Bath Delorean Meet-up. Stephen

To Stephen,

This event sounds like a great way to meet more Delorean owners. I'd love to come and visit. I would have to see arrange my time with work as I work on a 24/7 callout and I'm scheduled to work that weekend.

I bought my Delorean from Chris P a couple of months ago and love it. It's the best thing I own, I must get more attention that if I had a Ferrari! I can't remember the Vin I think its 4068, black automatic, used to have the reg. BAK5T but now PMT250X. I am Delorean member 241.

Were you at the NEC last year for the classic car weekend? We were there on the sunday.

If we can't make it then have a great day, if we can then we'll let you know as soon as possible.

Nick and Kathryn Tomlinson.

~The Bath Delorean Event~

Dear All,

Many DOC members have been emailing me about the February 8-9th event, so I thought I would send out a nice official looking invitation and run down of how the weekend is expected to turn out. Both non Delorean owning and owning DOC members are welcome to attend on the weekend, but for cost (and space) reasons, only members bringing Deloreans will be able to stay the night at our family home.

The aim of the weekend is two fold: to drive and show off our unique automobiles in Baths beautiful surroundings, and to perform some group maintenance on the cars themselves. There are some amazing places in Bath to take pictures of the Delorean, and some fantastic streets to drive slowly down while wearing the biggest, proudest smile you own. Therefore some of the time will be spent up at our family home which has enough space for parking plenty of Deloreans (up to 20) if well parked, and some of the time driving around the local area.

As part of the weekend I will be laying on plentiful food and drink, on Saturday evening, at around 6pm. There are plenty of good pubs and bars in Bath, but I will be directing owners to the very adequate bus system if they are planning on drinking more than a couple of pints. I'd hate to ever see a Delorean owner done by the officious Bath police force, or worse still damage their beloved car. (God, I'm starting to sound like the married man I am J )

For those car owners that stay the night, there'll also be a full English available to take the edge off the morning, before a Sunday full of driving or tinkering with cars. Non owners are welcome to join us for the Saturday meal, and for any of the tinkering / driving sessions during the two days. For those non owners that haven't enjoyed the Delorean driving experience yet, this may be the opportunity.

The weekend will be sponsored by Comtec Business Systems Ltd, our family company, who seek to receive some small amount of local advertising from the event. This probably just means turning up a photo shoot with a local rag/s, with my car displaying a company logo and slogan, along with the DOC name. If this event turns out really well, next time I may be able to work out a larger local sponsorship deal involving more company, Deloreans and perhaps a visit to Castle Combe Circuit. I always try to think big you see.

All those wishing to come along, and I really do want as many to come as possible, please pass on the following details so that I can get alcohol and food supplies ready in advance:

          Your DOC member number :

          Your Full Name:

Your Car VIN number and REG if able to bring a Delorean:

          Any eating requirements, vegetarian etc:

If staying whether you need to stay Friday as well as Saturday, fine with me:

Anything else you'd like to ask, add:

When I have all replies, I'll send out directions for the house in Bath and contact detail for calling the house in case you get lost at any point.

Remember, the more that come, the better this will be. Hopefully this will be a great way to get the Delorean year started. Forget all other prior engagements, how many other times do you get to meet up with plenty of other Delorean owners each year? You're all very welcome,

          With kind regards to all,

                   Stephen.
