Hello Scott,

Yes, Steve's fine, though I've always been more of a Stephen. At 14 you've got a little while to wait yet, but I'm sure that club will keep your passions fired until the day you can first invest in your own Delorean. The only real killer on a Delorean, is the insurance. Once you first get to a driving age, you'll get insurance twats asking for in excess of £1200 a year, for fully comprehensive insurance, which you'll want. However, a kind parent may well beable to put you as a named driver, if they are interested enough in the car themselves. You see Scott, the real trick to ownership, at a young age, is engaging your parents interest too. With the knowledge that your father would be able to drive the car, and show off too,it would be a lot easier to convince him that he might have always wanted a Delorean J As for prices, well, as you'll know, they start from around £6000 upwards, so it's not impossible to work out a loan for that amount. Again if you're parents will secure it, it gets easier still. With an APR of 9% over 3 years, you would be able to pay just £188 an month for the car. Not that bad really all things considered. It never stops there though, specially with a car at that price, you would expect to pay half that again in repair and upgrade costs, though Martin would be able to tell you more about that then me.

I may be at Birmingham, but I don't know if my car will be there, would be nice to drive it up on one of the days. We'll see. Where are you based in the UK? What did you think of Daves new right hander, I've heard some bits and bobs, what were your impressions?

Stephen.

Hey Steve

Can I call you Steve?

Well,

My nameis Scott Miller,Im 14,Ive loved Deloreans ever since I saw "That Film".

I have been to Dave Howarths and had a look at his three,he's a really friendly, dont you think?

I havealso seen one at Universal Studios Florida. At the time I thought it was the BTTF car,but I now think that it is just a D made to look like the real thing.

Im saving up for a D-long way to go!

My life goal is to own a D!

You goin to Birmingham in November?

Well Scott,

Welcome to the DOC, you've dropped into the email group at a quiet time today. Normally there are emails flying back and forth at quite some speed, about many d! ifferent subjects, but today there is little going on I'm afraid.

I'll introduce myself. My names Stephen, and I purchased my Delorean last Christmas Eve. Mine is a RHD model, with manual transmission and a grey interior. It is in very good condition overall, with only a minimal number of jobs left to complete. Named Lola, she really is the most fantastic car I've ever owned, and I've been lucky enough to have been involved with quite a few prestige cars. She belonged! to Dave Howarth before me, who did a lot of work to bring her condition up to scratch. Other than that, the registration is PSO 69W, and the VIN# is 6896.

I'm based inthe Bath area, but there are owners all over the UK. Someone else will be able to tell you exactly how many cars there are in the UK, but one thing's for sure, it's certainly one of the rarest cars around. I think that statistically you are more likely to see a well known celebrity in the street, than you are a Delorean, I know which one I'd rather seeJ. Before I went to view Lola in November last year, I had only ever seen two other delroeans. One parked outside one of the hotels at Gatwick early in the morning about 10 years ago, and one at a car museum about 12 years ago. That's it. You know, the best thing about driving and owning  a Delorean for me, is watching the people looking at the car. The reason I loveit ! so much, is that it reminds me of the look on my face, when I first saw a Delorean in the flesh. A kind of dumb looking grin, then a widening ofthe eyes, then a full faced smile. Most of the people in Bath tend to follow that with, "It's a fucking Delorean", or "It's back to the future init?" or "fucking back to the futureyeh!!" We're in the west-country here, far too much inbreeding J

If you're ever in or around Bath, give me a call, and come and check out the car for yourself, she's quite a beauty I think(not a word about exhaust pipes here Martin) J

Hope you enjoy being in the Club, I enjoy it greatly. Last DOC get together in Derby was great fun for all the D owners and non-owners too.

         Kind regards,

         Stephen.

Stephen Strelczak
