Midlanders meet Sunday 11th Aug. 13.00- .........

Dear Tony / List,

No. real time limits on time, people are welcome from early afternoon till when ever, I suspect the gas Barbie's will be doing service from mid afternoon onwards.  ( not sure I like the sound of your "road kill" selection) Ihave been making large blocks of ice for the last few days, I too have an old tin bath, to float the drinks in.

Regards your tick over, Andy had the same problem on Auto, he pinched my black box ( from behind the left hand front seat, the other end to the fusebox) you will find a 4" square black box with two plugs to it. .....Forgetting all about this, I started this car yesterday, without the black box, it did run, but took a few minutes to tick over, I remember wondering what was up with it!
I'm not recommending running without it, just mentioning that it will run aftera fashions without it. Martin / Rich..do you know what's happening without it?

Chris,
How nice of you Northerners to remember us baking in the Glorious South.  Thank you for your invite to the upper reaches of the country.  I think I volunteered to go to Scampton that weekend so it seems possible I could pop in on the way back if that would be OK.  Do you have a 'window' during which time the fire will be alight for the purpose of cooking whatever I might have run over on the way up?

with best wishes
Tony Lawther

PS car is running again now.  The garage found abit of silicon sealant in the idling valve (mistakenly used for hose attachment by a previous owner).  They are not convinced that this was the cause butit seems to start all right now.  Sometimes it idles OK at 1000 rpm and sometimes it oscillates between 500 and 2000.  I gather this is not an unknown problem, but I don't know if there is a cure.
