RE: [doc] Just been quoted $77 plus taxes, to get a $169 stainles s steel bottle to england!!!

Don't worry Martin, nothing is set in stone. As for the throttle cover, well, it was only $17, so I thought, might as well include it while I'm on the phone, same for the replacement wheel letters. As for all the remote gear. None is bought yet:) I'm open to any ideas on the remote side. As for remote start up feature. I tend to find that mine starts 99% of the time without the use of the throttle. Given this, and the fact that I never leave the car in gear (hand break works great now I've had most of it replaced with Jag parts) shouldn't remote start be a doddle? Thoughts please? I'm very keen to work with you on creating a totally remote car, using all the functions of that 6 way remote. Why not go all the way? How hard would it be to make the car entirley remote control, as in the BTTF car? Has anyone tried this before? I'm not serious by the way:)   Stephen.

P.S. It'll be this Teusday before the car will be back on the road, due to having to wait for the expansion bottle.
P.P.S I still can't remember my vin number, hence the reg number:)

Stephen, you are a sucker for a sales pitch, aren't you? :-) Not to impune the work Bob and Rob put into their products, I've already shown how the stock door-lock module can be strengthened for nothing more than a fiver, and a bit of time with a soldering iron. The remote door locking is easy-peasy and I've already sourced a 6-function remote which will interface directly with the stock module. I've found out how Daryl Tinnerstet wires his launchers up, and the same place that does the 6-function remote also does super-strong actuators (easily strong enough to work the door handle). It's one of my down-the-line projects, though the remote locking is pretty much required now as my drivers side door lock doesn't work, and is irrepairable. As I have the original two-key system, I am in two minds over whether to change them.

The remote starter is a bit more difficult for a 5-speed because you have to devise a system to inhibit the start if the car is left in gear. Something an automatic already has. Given the manual states you should depress the throttle 1/4 when starting, a remote start is not on my list of upcoming projects.

As to the stainless throttle cover, you should have asked Chris N nicely :-) (mine's lovvely, and a Nicholson original *grins at Chris*). Only trouble is I don't want to put it in the car in case it gets scratched!!!!

If you have any LARGE expenses to go stateside, remember a buch of us are going to Memphis in June.

BTW Stephen, I'm driving my D down to the Diesel Centre to work on Rich's tomorrow. Wanna come? I'm coming back tomorrow night.

Dear All,

after considering many options, I decided to go for standard delivery. It will be with me on Teusday, and I've also got them to send a few other bits over for me, including the stainless throttle cover, and DMC inserts for my wheels. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the stainless addons they've got there on that site:)
Also I had a long chat with one of the technical guys there, who has been working on the Zilla door systems. We chatted for a while but the essence of the conversation was, I'm going to get the Zilla remote door system fitted, the door release system fitted, and we are going to try and fit a remote engine start up too. There are a few electrical tricks this guy has up his sleeve to make this happen, but in essence its just a remote controled iginition switch. What fun eh? I'll keep you updated on this one, first thing will be remote central locking though, so don't expect 007 style antics just yet:)
