Re: [doc] Fuel pump

Hi Dan

Thats quite a good price, i think they areabout $205 from yout favourite DMC dealer. Make sure your fuel pump sealing ring and cover are in good condition too, soo you dont get debris(rubber!) and waterin your tank. Make sure the baffel is cleaned out and not come away from the bottom of the tank. And like i said check the pipe from your pump, if its cracked or split at the bottom then it needs replacing. The other thins is you may find bad fuel in the system, so if you buy some injector cleaner, put the pump into a large container with the cleaner and the return into another empty container. Run neat cleaner through the system. Also put your injectors into jars and push down the air flow sensor so the injectors get cleaned too. To run the fuel pump remove the RPM relay ( Green or black relay at the back of the relay compartment) the put a wire link between the brown and white/purple wire. When you have finnished run petrol thru the system back into a container until all the injector cleaner is flushed out. Dont forget the system runs 29 gallonsan hour thu the system, thats 2 litre a minute so you need a big container!

Subject: [doc] Fuel pump

All, list,

You wanted to know how I got on with my fuel pump? Well, I sourced one locally (any motor factors) for £100. I used the latter part number (and, well, it was printed on the old pump) and, although not a stock item (anywhere) will be with me by Monday. I shall fit next week and let you know how it goes. Just a quick note, they aren't stocked anywhere and have to be sourced direct from Bosch. The price is fixed. Not bad though!?!

Gonna be draining the tank tomorrow. There was me thinking that my fuel gauge was faulty (points straight up) but the tank was full! (of yellow, smelly liquid......was once fuel I think....).

Wish me luck.

PS
New site should be up next week. Complete notes on the restoration. Site name? www.projectmadness.com (not live yet, so don't visit it!)
