Alan (and Carl) Hammond are a good illustration about what the club is
about, both young men living in East of the country.
Alan eventually bought a car (from another club member) which was not
too bad superficially, but it had quite a few problems though, some
associated with it being a very early, low mileage car and was in need
of some TLC.
Alan set about doing a very thorough restoration in a logical and
methodical way. I went to see Alan earlier this year and was very
impressed with quality of his work. The car was looking "like new" (as
JZD once commented to me about Dolores).
When another "Hammond", Carl, joined the club, I was able to introduce
the two of them. They have since become firm friends and have discovered
they are distantly related!
As it looks like "Smokey" will have to wait another year before it makes
it to the NEC, I would strongly recommend any member to pop over to
Suffolk and get a good look at Smokey.
You fix the date Alan, that will be fine.
Best regards
Chris Parnham

Part of the fun of joining the DOC is learning about the cars.... When I
joined the club I was always printing pics out, learning about the car,
the history, etc.... then I got a car and it`s been hell ever since
(joke!!)..... but in a way I knew everything about my car before I owned
it due to the large amount of info on the internet.
and about the meet:
anyone who has an interest in the DMC is welcome to come to a meeting
(suffolk area).
Smokey can now be driven out of the shed and taken for a spin down the
drive....AT LAST!!!
It`s just a question of when would local EA members want to meet
up...??? Sundays are best for me really (as long as I have a steady sat
night!!)...
all the best
Alan Hammond and Smokey (crying out for insurance!!!!!!!!!!)
Alan, Hi hows
it goin, when you want to do this local DOC meeting let us know, I'll
feel a bit like the odd one out without a D, but I can always bring my
1/18th versions!!!
