Re: [doc] Re: Tyre Warning

Hi,

I wouldn't use the spray in stuff for the tyres personaly because when it is set it can offset the balance of the wheel and also makes the tyre irrepairable using the mushroom repairs. Tyre fitters will not attempt to repair if this gunk is used. I got this info from my local garage/ tyre fitter and rang a few others to see what thier opinion was.

I got my spare tyre repaired by having it removed, the rim cleaned and brushed and refitted with new rim sealant and a balance. Cost me £3.
The inflation pressure is 60PSI

BTW the spare tyre is not subject to the MOT test. Some cars dont carry a spare tyre but a can of the spray in gunk !

This is my opinion, not dis-respecting others.

All the best,

Nick.

Your comment on the sealing stuff is a good idea, I hadn't thought of
that. Since I hope never to actually have to use the spare in
a 'real' situation this may be good enough for MOT purposes. The only
supplier still making the spares appears to be Continental, and they
are on 'back order'....

Paranoid, maybe. I have decided to replace them anyway (Pirelli P600
235x60x15WR and Pirelli P6000 195x60x14VR). My car is worth more to
me than the cost of these tyres.

If it were John, I'd fill the spare with that Sealing Junk that I use

tin of Tyre inflate stuff in case of emergency's as well.

BTW, I think your getting a bit paranoid about your old tyres,
