Another factor is the amount of use of laser detectors in you area. They are aimed at the front plate and, of course, if you don't have one, you irritate the cop who is trying to test your speed. The aftermarket license plate holder that is available is a very good piece of equipment. It postitions your plate dead center, right to left and top to bottom of the front fascia. While I don't care for front plates, the car looks pretty good with this holder. When I go to car shows, I remove the front plate (not the holder) and substitue the "DMC" plate. Looks great. However, once I was returning from a show and I had forgotten to replace the "DMC" plate with the regular Colorado plate and I was stopped by an Utah HP because he couldn't figure out what state the plate represented. Needless to say, it soon became obvious that he really wanted an up front look at a DeLorean. I accomodated him and after a nice chat we parted without a ticket or a warning. BTW, so as to make the holder inconspicuous, I got the Black stainless steel (PJ GRADY). You'd swear that the front plate is floating right in front of the bumper. Thousands of DeLoreans were stored at the factory and the QAC centers with this tape exposed to the sun for an extended period of time (several months). This condition caused the glue in the tape to etch its foot print in the final fascia finish, therefore these marks cannot be removed. Refinishing the fascia is the only solution. My passenger side door would clunk when ever you opened it and closed it, like it was miss aligned. I looked at the door guides and saw that the plastic by the door lock on the door broke and the metal pin that latches the door down was catching in the hole where the plastic was. i took the door guide off and it wouldnt clunk anymore, so i just filed down the door guide a bit and now it works perfectly! the door never sounded so good. now if i could only drive the car before winter!! (damn fuel problem!) But for now, any information any of you would like to share would be greatly appreciated. Since I am at the moment looking to buy one, I would like to know what a perspective buyer should know. Also, are there any of you DMC enthusiasts in Hawaii? Specifically Maui? And would anyone know if there is a D for sale in this area? One with low mileage is preferable. Most car alarm specialty places I have called haven't installed into a DMC-12, but assume that everything will go without a hitch. I have no doubt that they *believe* they can do it, but I am sending out feelers to find out if anyone has had problems with the installation of a car alarm. On the same note, if anyone knows of a place that has experience with car alarms in a DMC-12 in Northern California, please let me know. Also, any suggestions for a type/brand of alarm for a Delorean would be appreciated.
