However, I get the distinct impression that the door is out of alignment with the body and the realignment procedure involves popping the torsion bars and adjusting every stainless panel on the car! I'm half-tempted to cut the body (!!?!) so that the striker pin will adjust outward further, but I'm afraid that if I completely remove the pin, it's backing plate will disappear into the door jamb forever. I really hate slamming that door. I have an 82 corvette that will kill a good battery in 2-3 weeks and turn a brand new battery into garbage In about 1-2 months (lead acid batteries don't like being fully discharged). If you hook an ordinary battery charger to the battery and leave it on all the time, it will for lack of a better term cook your battery over time. The solution is a float charger that keeps the battery charged but doesn't over charge it, Many are out there they cost between $10-$50 (I paid about $15 for a cheap one) and it works great and I have never had a problem since I started using it about a year ago. It should also help prolong the life of the battery. Based on my experience I would recommend a float charger for any car or battery that does not get regular use.The avantage of this over the battery switch is that you don't have to reset your clock, it keeps info in the computers and should give the battery a longer life over all. They do not own their own vehicles. The look for someone who is available to go past your area towards your destination. Make SURE they have enough insurance to cover your car AND the rest they are trucking. Get an enclosed trailer if affordable. Find out how many times they will have to load/unload your vehicle enroute. Each time risks damage. (Check odometer reading when loaded and when delivered.) Make sure the same driver will be with the vehicle the entire distance. They are never on time so make sure they pickup/deliver when YOU are available. NEVER, EVER send or accept a vehicle after dark or in the rain. Make them stay overnight nearby if they try to do this. Upon delivery examine very carefully, including a short test drive before the car is signed for. Hope this helps. Also, noting all the troubles people are having with their D's. In my opinion parts manuals for cars are more valuable than the service manuals because the parts manuals show exploded diagrams of all of the subsystems in the car. Section 2 contains all of the Fuel System information you will need. You can learn an awful lot about the DeLorean from this book without ever touching a wrench. It's been done, but it's a bad idea. Conversion of A/C systems to other refrigerants is primarily useful for transferring money into the pockets of the A/C technicians. At best it will work the same, but most likely it will get worse. It is possible to convert the DeLorean system (which is an off the shelf GM air conditioner) to R134, but you will wind up with a higher failure rate of components (due to the high pressure) and probably a less effective air conditioner. An R-12 air conditioner in good condition will not harm the ozone layer. R-12 can only harm the ozone layer if it can get out of the air conditioner, and it can't if it doesn't leak. There is no need to lose freon into the atmosphere when charging or servicing the unit, either. Good air conditioning technicians should have equipment capable of recovering all the freon from the system. In addition, it is legal to use, buy, and sell R-12 refrigerant. Many A/C technicians will mislead you on this point, or try to convince you that R-12 is in some way unavailable. There are, however, two other areas at the front of the car that make nice critter homes. One is in the jack storage compartment. This area spans from fender to fender. You will need a mirror and flashlight placed in the jack storage compartment to see the entire space. The next open space is located behind the headlights and front grill. Remove the front grill to inspect this area. The last possibility is the space between the GRP body and the fender. Remove the fender to access this area. My car won't start when it's hot. It loses pressure (doesn't hold 3 bar pressure for half a hour). Apparently the fuel evaporates in the line and the car won't start until engine has cooled sufficiently for fuel to travel through. Have changed one way valve in fuel pump, cleaned and checked metering head, checked all injectors and seals. Have changed oxygen sensors. The only thing I haven't checked is a valve at the back of the engine (looking at the engine, there's a valve on the engine wall at the rear left - I don't know what this is and it's the only thing I haven't checked). Could this be the problem? Any other ideas? It may take a couple weeks, but I'd really hate to see you have to cut your car. Suggestion 2, twenty-five of those pine tree air fresheners hanging from the rearview mirror should take care of it! Make sure the system is properly flushed, and all of the old oil is removed. I would also consider replacing the Dryer, and Orifice, and replace all of the seals. IMHO, there is no reason to convert your DeLorean to anything. The site is in german language, so just click on the menu "Dateien", and look for "Sounds". There are just two yet (both VIN# 11512), but as soon as I find some spare time, I'll add some more.
