The original window sticker said 19. I have heard people say they have gotten as much as 30 mpg. The most interesting story was a guy who installed a Floyd? carberator from the 50"s and got 30 mpg. He was technical enought that a really believe his numbers. He was at the Cincinatti show. BTW, this Floyd? guy is the one that was misteriously kidnapped and killed in the Everglades after he anounced he was going to mass produce the carberator. Over the years the foam has basically dried out and turned to powder. There really is no way to just replace the foam. Any automotive interior shop should have a good selection of headliner material with a pretty good match color wise. Use 3m brand spray adhesive to attach the new material. Once you have tha adhesive on the two sides take a piece of masking tape and put it over the buttons . This will prevent the buttons from showing thru the new headliner. I carried them in and they were able to match up the color, and they look as good as new the same day! For the readers in the chicago area, i know Riggs Brothers has atleast 6 locations or so. Im sure that most upholstry shops can recover the headliners, make sure to leave the fabric on, as it helps when picking the new color. The Delorean parts suppliers also offer that service, and with them you are sure that the color will be exact. Just bring your DeLorean to any competent upholstery shop and they should be able to make your headliners factory new. You should expect to pay $250 to $350 for all four sections. According to the most recent N.A.D.A. price guide the value of a '81, '82, or '83 DeLorean is: "Low Retail: $9250", "High Retail: $17800". Quite a spread, but in reality the spread is even greater. Roughly from a few thousand to over $50K! On a car like a DeLorean most lenders will want to personally examine the car and also get an independent appraisal from a qualified "special interest" vehicle appraiser. I attempted to change the spark plugs on my Delorean today. as many know the first 5 are a piece of cake, until you have to get to the one underneath all the hoses. well, i attempted and I couldnt get the coil back on the spark plug. can anybody give me some advice on how to do it. I cant reach in there. a more serious question: I drove it around the block to see if i did indeed get the cap back on. I smelled fumes. I pulled into my garage and noticed i had a trail of gas behind me. i opened the engine compartment and there was gas by the three spark plus on the left and up near the distributor area. could i have loosened a line or something? please help me.
