The engine nooise is not from the Delorean, unless they did some mods to it. or maybe my engine needs a tune up. I wish the doors sounded that way too. although that might get annoying. You could probably even get a turbo thrown in too. :} If you just want an exhaust upgrade you can expect up to about 10HP boost and a little more noise, increase in power is usually proportional to increase in noise of course. You can still get either alternator from one of the DeLorean parts suppliers. Give PJ Grady, DMC Houston, or DeLorean One a call. The tire size, along with the rest of the suspension package was designed and developed by the best suspension people in the business - Lotus Engineering. The tires were sized to give predictable handling given the weight distribution of the car, the roll center, and the polar moment of inertia. The results are quite good. Changing the size of the tires on the front of the car to match the size on the rear will tend to bias the handling from mild understeer (which is what you want) to oversteer - the back end of the car will tend to come around at the worst possible moments like braking in a turn, lifting in a turn or anything else that would unweight the rear of the car. You could potentially have problems with brake bias as well. The same behaviour would occur if you tried to make the rear tires the same size as the front. The front end of the car, already high to begin with will be even higher throwing off airflow and headlamp aim, plus you will probably have some interference between the tires and the front bodywork. Properly sized Yokohama AVS Intermediate tires are available from places like the Tire Rack for well under $100 per wheel shipped and installed. There really isn't any reason to tamper with the tire formulas until correctly sized tires are no longer available. This Delco unit "sits" in the same location with no alteration to the original mounting brackets. All it need is a simple change to a wire to accept the new terminal for the Delco alternator. It is a 15 minute installation job once you lift up the car to get access to the alternator. It was an '82 that was TOTALLY original, including the Goodyears. The car was almost perfect and very beautiful, of course his doors were sagging like crazy, as you can imagine. I guess that means it might need some updates (?), but I was wondering, how common or uncommon is it to find an original D like this with every single thing original? How were the remaining cars sold after consolidated took over since there was a reported 2000 plus car inventory backlog I've heard of people still buying new cars as late as 1986 from dealers who either sat on them or just could,nt find the right person to buy a car made buy a compny that no longer existed. Were they sold through the original dealer network or some other way? I also have heard that many dealers dropped the car immediately after the shutdown and didn't what anything to do with it. Is this true? What is the latest date you've heard of someone buying a NOS delorean? There is a detailed solution to this posted on the DMCNews tech section at: http://www.dmcnews.com/techsection/fascia.htm The trick is using small pieces of metal reinforcement, and 3M windshield adhesive. It is very grippy yet still slightly flexible. I'd guess it would require removing the front fascia. You can apply heat with a hair dryer and hold the eyebrow in place until it cools. This is only a temporary fix but much easier than the first suggestion.
