Due to the fact that DeLoreans came out in 1981, meaning that Roger Moore as James Bond would have been driving it. The www.delorean.com site that, according to James Espey, is the property of John DeLorean, links to the mailing list that this guy claims is a hoax. I doubt that JZD's site would link to a mailing list in his name over which he has no control, and not be bothered by that as well. To get a further indication of his reliability, go to his website at http://www.angelfire.com/ma/speedlimit/index.html. According to him, he is slated to publish an article in August 1999 "in the world's greatest and most prestigious automotive magazine' that will "blow the top off the new DeLorean project". I have yet to see anything of the sort, but he claims to be in touch with everybody from JZD to dealers, and from the looks of his page, it would appear as if John Z. DeLorean has created a completely new car company in total secrecy, without the assistance of press releases or a public search for investors. Finally, casting further doubt on "toscano2@ix.netcom.com"'s credibility, his web site features what can only assumed to be him, wearing a clown suit of questionable nature in the aftermath of a Mardi Gras type festival. I would love to believe this stuff, but it seems like no more than a hastily thrown together web page with little believable content. If there is any truth to what he's saying, perhaps he ought to elaborate upon these fantastic claims, and share it with the rest of the list. There are four (?) screws under the outer rubber trim piece on each door side. I was replacing my outer rubber gaskets anyway so it wasn't a big deal for me but if you want to reuse the same gasket gently peal it away across the top starting at the T-top. After you get the rubber pulled back the screws are philips head and are probably buried under several layers of adhesive. After you get the screws out throw them out and replace them with stainless steel screws. To remove the old paint you can use regular furniture paint stripper. After you've removed the old paint you can repaint it with a nice coat of Kyrlon semi-gloss black. I also subscribe to a Dodge Dakota mailing list and granted that a Dak(Dakota) is a far cry from a D but not being a D owner but a Dak owner I cheerfully say Vice-versa, anyway, the question is in one of the letters there was a debate weither turbo's or supercharging was better and one response was that stick Dak's and turbos don't work together because in between each shift you have to re-spool the turbos by plowing the throttle and get the pressure up before you can shift are turbo D's this way too? Try tracking it down, to see where it connects (on the other side). It should be hose-clamped onto a nipple on the top of a small box mounted on the back of the left hand valve cover. On my car, it just makes a U-turn, and aims back down onto the valve cover. The whole hose is only 5 inches long. I would like to hear how it looks on other people's cars though. I had a Volvo manual that seemed to suggest it should connect to the airbox at some point, but that is not the case on a Delorean. It's not really important at all. I don't think the vent hose is even part of the smog equipment on the car.
