Although it was mainly for hot rods, custom cars and motor bikes, we took our DeLorean along to the Casula car show at the Cross Roads truck stop near Liverpool in New South Wales (Australia), and all-up we had a great time. The car attracted a lot of attention (sometimes there were twenty people at a time poking around the car), and the question most-asked was: "What's it made of?". I think that most people are at first attracted by the gullwing doors, and once they get closer to the car they are fascinated by the SS panels ("is it bare metal? Aluminium? Alloy?")! I was also surprised by the amount of times people associated it with Lamborghinis. In fact, the first question we got asked was "Is it a Lamborghini?". Other people said "Geez, it looks like a Lamborghini, eh" and "I reckon Lamborghini would make those, eh". We spent all day at the show, sitting by our DeLorean, and we fielded all the usual questions like "What sort of engine's it got?", "What's it's top speed?", "What's it like to drive?", "How many are there in Australia?", and "Where's the Flux Capacitor?" Dad had printed up some flyers about our car, and DeLoreans in general, so we handed them out to people who appeared interested (and it feels nice to know that hundreds of people's lives are now complete after having seen a DeLorean, hehe). But, the 1000 decibel farts of the dragsters and hot rods often attracted most of the attention from the crowd. All-in-all it was a great day, despite the morning drizzle and overcast skies, and I can't wait for show to enter our D in. For any Sydney-siders reading this who couldn't make it out today, perhaps you'll be able to make the next show (whenever that is). Oh, by the way, we didn't win anything at the show today (must've been rigged), but maybe next time. R. The May-June Limited Edition up date was mailed on Friday, if you are an edition owner or Test Kit list member and did not receive your up-date, PLEASE, PLEASE contact me by direct e-mail. 2. As noted in the owners up-date there are 17 un-sold editions returned to the available list for one reason or another. If you would like a kit please contact me by direct e-mail. There is no longer a restriction on the number of editions you may order. With the exception of one set* all DMC Logo key orders have been filled and shipped. If you ordered keys and do not receive them by the end of next week please contact me by direct e-mail. DMC Logo keys are available, any one interested please contact me directly by e-mail DMC Logo keys either are or will shortly be available at most Major DMC repair shops like DMC Houston, PJ Grady's, DMC (Don's). Having just had the opportunity to closely inspect a 1998 Lamborghini Diablo, I can attest to the fact that these cars *do* have a passing resemblance to the DeLorean, especially for someone that isn't familiar with them. Pictures don't really do justice to either car. The biggest similarity of course is the doors. Lamborghini doors stick up in the air, although they hinge at the front and swing up like scissors. But people call Lamborghini style doors "gull wing" all the time. This, combined with the Italian styling, the high rear end, angular lines, and general exoticness - yeah, I can understand that mistake. Although importing is fairly cheap (=A3600) the cost after this (import dut= y=20 and the new safty laws) make the price in America the same in pounds after=20 all the paper work. If you are deperate and have more money than sense (and bad eyesight) I wil= l=20 sell you mine and move to the sun sooner than I expected.
