The fuse you are looking for has a green / white wire leading from the fuse to the wire harness. If the switch works OK the plastic cover may be slightly warped preventing the switch from operating properly. If this is the case try spraying the inside of the cover before placing it back over the button. If after taking the cover off the switch still sticks you will have to replace it. The switch is part number 108388 and is available from all of the DeLorean parts suppliers. Item 151 is the idle speed motor microswitch; that is correct. The misprint for item 152 incorrect, it should say "idle speed thermistor". This component is located out of sight under the intake manifold. The diode is located in the electrical compartment behind the drivers seat. I had the A/C running on maximum when I noticed that there was smoke coming from the passenger side of my car. I quickly drove out of the gas line and up the street where I had room to pull over. When I got out of my car (I left it running) I looked around for smoke or any signs of coolant leaking from my car. I didn't notice any, so I decided to go back to the gas station. Just as I pulled onto the road, I noticed my temperature guage was pegged at the highest mark. I quickly turned into a parking lot and turned it off. Aftert waiting about 15 minutes, I started it up and drove home (about 1 mile away). Just as I got on the road, I noticed the temperature was just at the red mark, but it quickly went down to 220F, then it went to normal. When I got home, I left it idle in the garage, then bleed the radiator. I got some air out of the radiator but noticed that the fans weren't coming on. When I checked the temp, it was again at the highest mark. I turned it off and left it for a while. When I came back, I opened the coolant bottle and checked the level, it was OK. I just replaced the temperature sending unit about 4 months ago and have never had a problem like this. What can I do? Why didn't the fans come on? Why did it overheat even with the A/C on and those same fans running? Could I have a broken water pump? HELP...Please!!! All weekend long they held vintage car races, and we got to see a wide variety of competition, from old Formula One cars to retired NASCAR racers, compete for awards. To defeat the 90 degree heat our eight DeLoreans found a spot on the infield under a big, shady tree. At Saturday's showdown we saw a lot of wonderful British cars. Nautrally our DeLoreans were the hits of the show. At Sunday's All Marque Concourse we saw a pair of Renault Alpines (DeLorean cousins) including one from Cincinatti (att. Ken Koncelik: this guy also has a DeLorean and he says he knows you . . . both of his cars would look good next year in Cleveland). The best parts of the weekend were the parade laps around the race track. Not only was it a lot of fun to drive, but the sight of our DeLoreans rounding banked turns provided us with great photo opportunities. HUMOROUS ENDING: During Saturday's British Car Showdown my wife, Patti, and I visited the vendor's area. We saw a huge variety of British car parts, but alas, no DeLorean left front fenders. We dropped by an automotive book dealer with a huge display of books on Jaguar, MG, Austin, Lagonda, etc.. His collection was extensive and many of the books were quite old. As I browsed, Patti spoke to the vendor. Patti: "Excuse me, sir. Do you have any books about DeLoreans?" Vendor: "DeLoreans? Now there's an interesting car! There have been a few books about DeLoreans and I keep them all in stock in my shop. But I didn't bring any of my DeLorean books today. For your information, young lady, this is a *British* car show!" Me: "(Uh-oh!) Would you like a lemonade, dear?" Just a little air in the system will cause the fans not to come on. ( They should still come on when the AC is on.) A small pocket of air in the system will cause the coolant not to circulate. The coolant in the engine will then over heat and steam, not smoke, will come out of the over flow hose that is attached to the reservoir tank. This is most likely is what you seen coming from the passenger side in the engine compartment. If the water pump was bad most likely there would be coolant coming from the water pump weep hole. Bleed the coolant system removing all the air and have the system pressure checked for leaks. Most shops can pressure check the system, as it is the same procedure that is done on every car that I can think of with a radiator, except that the tester is connected to the reservoir tank in our case.
