The closest that I've come has been 18.6%!!! So naturally I said no! If someone could help me out with this, I would greatly appriciate it! I have a good sized down payment, but I would much rather put a dependable running D on monthly payments with extra money for repairs that may come up, rather than Sink everything all at once into a "fixer-upper" that I will have no money for. When you take off the wheel there are two adjustment points. Choose the large slot head screw with rhe cotter pin!! Its a no brainer. Don't plat with the two nut adjustment on the cable! Remove the cotter pin and screwon the slot head screw untill the rotor won't turn. Then back off the screw where the rotor will JUST turn. Mabye not too freely. Then put in the cotter pin or back off the screw untill the cotter pin will fall in the screw head slot. Replace the cotter pin. Both sides, your done. an hour or so. If you touch the brake cable adjustment on the break cable, two nuts on either side of a bracket, and remove the peg on the end of the cable from the arm, DO NOT, (WHEN REPLACING THE NUT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PEG) OVER TIGHTEN THE LOCK NUT!!!!!!!!! IT WILL BREAK OFF THE BOTTOM OF THE PEG!!! And turn a 1 hour job into a 6 hour job. Actually another 10 hour job to fix the peg. Or you could buy a new cable, but that's got to be $100 - $200+ for the part, plus hours to install. DON'T DO IT!!!! The cotter pin - slot screw is simple. Don't take out the end of the cable from the bracket. There is some self-adjusting mechanism in the parking break bracket, but it obvisouly dosen't work, hense the need to adjust the parking break. Mine now holds solidly at about 3 clicks on the parking break. It passed the safety check in Connecticut easily after this ajustment. Believe it or not, this *has* been discussed on the DML. James Espey financed his DeLorean through Arizona Federal Credit Union. He described how he did it in the DML on August 6, 1997. You can find it in the back issues. Even though I paid cash for my DeLorean, on a whim I did inquire about financing and I got the same answer that Robert did. The bank will want you to have full coverage with a set deductible. The best thing to do if you don't have all the money to secure the car is to take out a personal loan. If your income and credit is good you my be able to borrow as much as $10K. First of all we need to get the language correct. When you say "cover" I assume you mean the "interior door panel" which there are two of; upper and lower. The normal procedure for replacement of both panels is the opposite of removal. In other words, just put it back on in reverse of how you took it off. Therefore I turned to Hemmings and found classic car financing. The intrest rate was 2 points higher that my bank (credit union), but still at 9.75% it was a good deal. Therefore if you look hard enough, you will find a company. Also the internet has alot of classic car financing sites. With the recent talk about auto insurance, an important point to consider (especially with collectable vehicles) is that most insurance does NOT provide for replacement cost. What this means is that if your Delorean receives considerable damage in an accident, your insurance company may decide that the repair cost exceeds the DEPRECIATED VALUE of your eighteen year old vehicle. Believe it or not, your regular auto insurance may put a value on your Delorean of only a few thousand dollars. You could become painfully aware of this fact, only when you filed a claim. Let's say someone backs into your door, and the repair costs to replace the door are $5000. The insurance company may calculate the depreciated value, on your 1982 Delorean, that originally sold for $20,000 when purchased new, is now only worth $4,500! The $4,500 would be the amount you would be paid, upon surrender of the vehicle. This is the case with most auto insurance, unless stated differently, IN WRITING. If you think this sounds outrageous, check it out, BEFORE you need to file a claim. I'm speaking from personal experience, fortunately the vehicle was not my Delorean. The way around this debacle, is auto insurance stated value riders, or insurance from companies specializing in collectible vehicles. This is one of those areas where extra caution is needed and everything needs to be in WRITING.
