All DeLorean owners should take note of your comments. D owners, listen up! Purchasing parts from a DeLorean supplier benefits both the buyer and seller. Here is an example. The door struts for the DeLorean have no other application except for the DeLorean. They are custom built and only available in bulk orders. If it were not for DeLorean parts suppliers, like DMC Houston, who can purchase these in bulk, this very important door component would not be available. Could you imagine your DeLorean with no source for door struts. Most parts from the DeLorean suppliers are competitive with other sources. In instances where they cost more, buy them. You will not only get the right part you will also be helping to keep our parts suppliers alive and well. I have done a considerable amount of searching, and it looks like the Yokohama AVS Intermediate is one of the very few tires that fit both the front and back. The sizes are 205x60-14 (oversized) for the front, and 235x60-15 (stock) for the back. www.tirerack.com is a great site to use for tire hunting. My question is: Has anyone used these tires on his or her car? How stiff does it ride? How well does it handle? Right now I have Michelin Sport XGTs all around. These are not made anymore, and I was wondering how the AVS compares in ride and handling. Yeah. I know. I know. I didn't really choose to use this alternator. A few years ago my alternator died. I called all the DeLorean shops I knew of, and no one had a new alternator to sell me. They all wanted me to send them my old one to have it rebuilt. The alternator was in really sad shape, and I was pretty sure a rebuild was out of the question. So I took it to a local alternator shop I knew was good, and they confirmed that is was hopeless, but said they could get me a new replacement. So I went there to pick it up, and there, sitting on the table, was the box with "Lucas" written all over it. A scream of fear went off in the back of my mind, but then I figured I didn't have a better option at the moment, so I put it in my car. And over 3 years and 30,000 miles later, I have no complaints. Several of my DeLorean friends are running on them as am I. I have the standard 195's on the front, but the 205's should work as long as your car has not been lowered (then there is a tendency to rub on the wheel well in tight cornering. They are very competent performance tires. I prefer them to the original Goodyear NCTs (which happen to be original equipment for the Esprit - go figure). I can't comment about ride vs your Michelins as I have no experience with them, but it is comparable to the NCTs. I am using the Yokohama A-008 series on my car and so far they have been the best I have ever experienced. They provide a very stiff ride, but worth it when you take a sharp curves at high rates of speed. I haven't even come close to losing control, and I drive like a maniac! Regardless of that, 205/60R14 should work just fine too. They will be slightly larger but probably not enough to really be noticeable. > hunting. I have used them on RX-7s and while they are not a true track tire, they will still develop a whole lot more grip than the NCTs that came with the car. For a street tire, they are about as high quality as you can get while still maintaining some reasonable tread life. The AVSi is probably the most popular DeLorean-sized tire available. They handle and feel very good. I have taken sharp turns at high speeds and they have gripped extremely well. Also, my car is lowered, and they still fit perfectly.
