I was told NOT to buy oil filters from Pep-boys.  

I was told due to some valve in the standard fram type filter, there is
a reduction of oil flow that is no good for the DeLorean engine.  I use
the Perlux (I think that is what it is).  It is about twice the price of
the standard fram type.

Maybe I was told this because of my Turbos? and this does not apply to
others.

    The Mercedes' gullwing was also produced later on in the eighties!
I've seen a 1983 Mercedes 300SL(?) Gullwing version for sale in an Auto
Trader magazine (Alabama version)
     
    The new car is the Mercedes Vision, a Ferrari-fighter priced at about

$750,000-$1,000,000 with what is known more as the "butterfly" doors-
check out the McLaren F1 for a fine example- that puts out a hell of a
lot
of horsepower!!!

Hopes this li'l bit of info spreads light on that.  Now...let's get back
to
DeLoreans!!!

My front fascia was both warped and the paint was flaking.  P.J. Grady
did the work and the result is truly a thing of beauty.  I almost hate
to put it back on the car (maybe the livingroom would be better).  Plan
to get a second job though right now!

I'll try the Stop-Leak...it's a pretty hefty leak but I've heard stories of
miracles performed by that stuff (even back when it was "chunky style").  It
can't hurt to try, right?

I think the miles are authentic.  In fact, from looking at the car it's hard
to believe it has that many miles.  The original owner used it as a daily
driver in heavy urban traffic, and the second owner drove it almost never
and did little in the way of maintenance.  I've wanted to do something with
the engine ever since I got it, but anything I can do to postpone that for a
few months is welcome.

does anybody know of a good way to clean the air intake "chamber".  the
previous owner of the delorean NEVER changed the air filter and now it
is all grimey and gross.  also, i dont know where i heard it but i
thought you could recharge the door struts.  maybe i was wrong.

Here is a better solution. Purchase a 45 degree angle adapter for the oil
pressure sender and the problem you described will be eliminated. As a
matter of fact the adapter will allow larger capacity filters to be fitted
to your DeLorean.

Hello everyone, I am new to the list, but my delorean experance began
last year when I purchased an 81 D that had been neglected by previous
owners. The price was right $5000 to be exact. It required compleate
replacement of the fuel system, including distributer, other repairs
included frame work and most receantly a transmission that is being
installed currently. The Body leaves a lot to be desired also, with
atleast one dent in every body pannel, which includes damage to the
front facia and bumper, thankfully it is nicley hidden by the bra which
came with the car when I purchased it.  If anyone has any info on 4194
it would be much apperaciated. 
Stats 81, SS body, Black int, 5 speed, groves in hood, no gas flap
location St Charles IL

parts, But dealing with ED almost made me regret my desision within the
first month. Steve at DMC is a pleasure to deal with and is my
recommendation to all self respecting DMC owners, I still have yet to

Last week someone on the list was asking about their radio antenna, a
manual retracting antenna for the front fender. Today I was poking around
in some boxes in he back and ran across some of these. Their history is
unknown to me, but it was a factory item. How it figured in to whole
antenna chronology is also unknown:

First: Windshield antenna
Somewhere in between: Fixed mast antenna on fender
Somewhere in between: Manual retracting antenna on fender
Last: Power antenna in rear quarter

If I had a fixed mast antenna, I would consider replacing it with the
manual retracting antenna. I think the guy said his radio reception was the
same if it was up or down (is that good or bad reception?). Cheaper than
putting in the power antenna ($240) and then having the hole welded up and
refinished ($200).

The bad part is that to install this antenna you have to remove the fender.

Anyone know where I can aquire the little clips (or are they screws?)
that hold the suspension covers to the bottom of the car? I'm having no
luck locating any, and the cover (panel) on my passinger side is
clunking around every time I hit a bump. I don't want to drive the car
till I can get that taken care of, and summer's passing fast.

VPA corp. from Riverside, CA.
The kit comes with: 2 remotes, 2 relays, 2 draw pull solinoids, 1 remote
module and mounting hardware. I have this unit installed in my DeLorean and
it works great. I have it set to lock, un-lock, open passengers door, and
open drivers door.
The part # is via-80158 Summits Tel. # 1800-230-3030
Or you can get it cheaper from VPA. Sorry can't find there #.

For those that are interested,
Summit's catalog sells the remote door openers for $96.69 There made by the
VPA corp. from Riverside, CA.
The kit comes with: 2 remotes, 2 relays, 2 draw pull solinoids, 1 remote
module and mounting hardware. I have this unit installed in my DeLorean and
it works great. I have it set to lock, un-lock, open passengers door, and
open drivers door.

Or you can get it cheaper from VPA. Sorry can't find there #.

Don't use Lexol's vinyl treatment. Their leather treatment is great but the
vinyl treatment will dissolve the white markings on various control buttons.
