I've often suspected another problem and here's why... My speedo doesn't work even after trying multiple angle drives. When I put an electric drill on the angle drive cable, it runs smooth all the way up. Install it in the car and it jumps all over the place. To verify the cap is not moving I have marked it to see if it is moving (The mark remained aligned). Note that the dust cap is new and the hole is square & not worn. My theory is that if the cable through the axle is too short, it "pops out" of the dust cap. Another option is if the cable through the axle does not have a nice square end it will pop out. When the car slows, it pops back in. I have another angle drive on order. Here is a question for the crowd ...Does the assembly of the axle/hub/etc make a difference as to how far the cable reaches towards the dust cap? In other words, if assembled wrong, is it possible to "move" the angle drive a bit further from the dust cap thus reducing the cap's ability to grab the cable? FWIW ... I have another angle drive on order.
