So first we go from if an owner showed up with a book I'd throw them off my property, to now it's acceptable to bring a book, a notebook, and a reference guide, as long as the dimensions are such that you can hide all of these from view of the seller so he doesn't know you have them? Because geez, if the book was 5 inches wider, well then he'd be an idiot to have it, since he can't hide it! So, in summary, be prepared, as long as you can hide being prepared from a seller, because any reputable seller will not sell you a car if you bring a full-size book you consult regularly in plain view of him. I guess that's progress.
