You hit the nail right on the head with..."I wouldn't be real happy to stand by why he or she read the book while there"... That's my point whether it be a Delorean or a Bricklin..or any other sports car..if the person needs to thumb through a book while checking a Car..well..I'm sorry I will not tolerate that..it's just me.. On the other had if he/she comes over with a Checklist in hand and checks off as he/she inspects..that is perfectly fine..or a mechanic or someone quilified in Deloreans or whatever car it might be..that again is fine.. But...Please...don't waste my time(or yours) going page by page trying to Compare Pictures in a Book to what you see in/ on a REAL Delorean or whatever car it might be.. For one thing unless the car is fully OEM..a lot of the stuff in the book simply might not match to begin with..or was Modified or too dirty or painted or somehow covered up etc. Unless you have a garage with a lift to bring it to..you simply cannot check the underside of most Deloreans to begin with..and if the seller is willing to bring it to a garage for You.. Then The DMCH book will be a invaluable asset to check the car out..since putting it on a lift..means the seller is willing to spend the time to have YOU fully check the car out. The Majority of sellers are happy to spend 30 minutes to one hour tops for a buyer to examine the car in their driveway and for a test ride..after that..You usually have to make a appointment for the seller to spend his time for further and more through inspections..at least that is how I do it. I don't care if a prospective buyer shows up with a book or a mechanic or a Delorean owner to go over the car. I have gone with a friend to a couple of D cars for sale to inspect and advise him later. I would hope that the prospective buyer would be familiar with the book and what to look for because > > Thanks, > Gary Masie > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "cbl302@..." > Date: Monday, September 17, 2012 10:06 am > Subject: [DML] Re: A message to prospective DeLorean owners..do not show up with a book.. > To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > > > If I was selling a delorean..I Would CHASE the person off my > > Property if they showed up with a Book...It would make me feel > > like ...well.. the Proverbial Shady Used car dealer..and in No > > way would I sell to that person..bottom line do your Homework > > FIRST about the "Ins" and "outs" of a Delorean..Again USE ALL > > available sources and NOT just a Book to learn about the Good > > and Bad about Deloreans..Just DO NOT show up with a Book..it > > would only Embarrass You..(as it would show your lack of > > knowledge of Deloreans)and Piss off the Seller..as it would make > > him or her seem Dishonest. > > > > Claude > > 1024 Bric > > > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "deloreanpress" > > wrote: > > > > > > That's all too true, David.
